City of Williston Christmas Tree Lighting Dec. 1

Williston Economic Development

The City of Williston will celebrate the spirit of season with its second annual  Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony on Thursday, Dec. 1 at 5 p.m. A local family is donating a tree from their yard to serve as the City Christmas Tree. Williston Public Works is teaming up with Basin Trucking to cut the tree down and transport it to the staging area at the  corner of 26th Street and 2nd Avenue West. The public is invited to the tree lighting ceremony.



Pictured is the 2015 Williston Christmas Tree. The tree that will moved this year is said to be even larger!

Economic Development to host Holiday Open House Dec. 9

The  public is invited to Williston Economic Development's Holiday Open House on Friday, Dec. 9 at the Center for Development. The annual holiday celebration will include food and beverages, door prizes and networking opportunities. Join WED as it celebrates the successes of 2016 and looks forward to 2017.

Holiday Lights Parade Nov. 25 in Williston

The Williston Area Chamber of Commerce will present the 22 nd Annual Holiday Lights Parade on Friday, November 25 th at 6pm along Main Street in downtown Williston. Following the parade the holiday lights at Harmon Park will be turned on by Williston Parks & Recreation Department and the community will be welcomed to walk through the park to view the lights. Spring Lake Park Holiday Lights Drive begins Nov. 26

The Holiday Lights Drive is nightly from Nov. 26 through Dec. 31.
The annual Spring Lake Park Holiday Lights Drive will begin on Saturday, Nov. 26. The drive will run nightly from 5:30-9:30 p.m. The one-mile loop will feature a wide assortment of light displays and thousands of lights. The cost is $5 per car. Proceeds from the drive will benefit non-profit volunteers and the Williston Parks & Recreation District. There will be special activities held at the keel boat on select dates. Break-evens on Bakken Wells drops to $13

New technology has helped lower the break-evens on Bakken wells.
Break-evens on wells in the Bakken have lowered another $5 to $13, and many North Dakota counties are now competitive with the Middle East, North Dakota's top oil and gas regulator says. Lynn Helms, director of North Dakota's Department of Mineral Resources, said that while the state's total production has continued to fall, hitting 971,658 barrels per day for September, better and better technology is producing economics in American shale plays that rival some of the best drilling sites in the world. Williston seeks Public Input on Cell Tower Ordinance Nov. 29

A Public Input Meeting will be held Tuesday, Nov. 29, from 6-8 p.m. at the Williston Area Recreation Center, to discuss updating the City's overall cell tower ordinance to incorporate new technologies. The City of Williston is seeking input from the community on ways that you use or would like to use cellular services, gather input on the appearance and siting of these newer systems, and find out about technological advances which should be considered. The Williston Visitors Center will host its annual holiday open house at its gift shop on Wednesday, Nov. 30 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. The Visitors Center is your one-stop-shop for gifts with a North Dakota flair including t-shirts, food items, arts, crafts, toys and more. Sample some of the gift shop's tasty treats and watch an artist carve an ice sculpture at the Visitors Center.

Williston Builders Association names New Executive Officer

Mariah Bates is the new Executive Officer of the Williston Area Builders Association.
The Williston Area Builders Association (WABA) is pleased to announce the hiring of its new Executive Officer, Mariah Bates. 
Mariah grew up in coastal New Hampshire until she graduated high school and left for college. She moved to Williston with her husband Pace in February of this year. Bates will seek to grow WABA, bring its members closer together and expand the association to Burke, Divide, Mountrail, McKenzie, and Williams Counties. Read More
