MODE It Forward; Downtown Williston Businesses show appreciation of First Responders

The owners of two Downtown Williston store gave Williston Fire and EMS personnel gifts cards  to show their appreciation for their service, particularly during the fire and flare-ups at Hedderich's.
While City of Williston administrators and the 0wner of Hedderichs's determine the final fate of the building; the store's neighbors are recognizing Williston Fire and EMS employees for their actions that saved parts of Hedderich's and its neighboring businesses. "Mode It Forward is a monthly program that allows us to recognize and show our appreciation of individuals who go above and beyond in our community," said Kim Wenko, co-owner of MODE. To show their graditude; the co-owners of MODE and owner of Quick Draw Art Studio gave nine Fire and EMS employees gift cards to their stores for women's apparel and accessories (MODE)and a painting class (Quick Draw) respectively.   Williston Herald: Downtown Williston stores thank first responders

Fresh Palate expands in Williston

The Williston Chamber ambassadors held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Fresh Brewed kiosk in Williston.
Fresh Brewed Organic Coffee & Smooth Bar has opened in Williston. The owners of Fresh Palate recognized that their customers were looking for a quicker and more accessible option to get their organic drinks. Their kiosk, located in the parking lot of Elite Health & Fitness, has drive-thru and walk-up windows for fast service.  Read More

Construction to wrap up on some Williston County Building Projects in August

Some of the construction projects on the Williams County campus are expected to wrap up in August.
Things are beginning to look a lot more finished on both the new Williams County Administration Building and the addition to its law enforcement center, and, this time at least, you can judge a book by its cover. Work on the county's 27,000-square-foot addition, immediately adjacent to the old MDU building, as well as the law enforcement center addition, which is to remain at its present location, is nearing completion, after which a big moving day begins for some. The new Law Enforcement Center offices are to be ready for occupancy by Aug. 1, and the jail finished by Aug. 31. Read More

New Postmaster begins in Williston

Tim Morgan is the new Williston Postmaster.
Williston has a new postmaster, and he has hit the ground running. Quite literally. Tim Morgan, originally from Virginia Beach, was brought over from Sidney  to help the post office in Williston as it has struggled with a shortage of personnel. As part of that effort, he has already helped deliver 10 of the city's 13 mail routes, and, last week, he was doing two routes a day, Morgan said.  Read More

Schneider to lead ND Economic Development

The North Dakota Department of Commerce has named John Schneider as Economic Development & Finance Division Director. Schneider will lead the state's economic development strategy and assist in coordinating the state's economic development resources to attract, retain and expand wealth. Schneider has served as interim director since January. He replaced past director Paul Lucy.  "John's extensive experience in value-added agriculture and unmanned systems will be a great asset for the state of North Dakota," Commerce Commissioner Jay Schuler said. Dakota Energy Festival Aug. 4-5 in Williston

The Dakota Energy Festival will (rock and) roll into Williston Aug. 4-5 at the Upper Missouri Valley Fairgrounds. The third annual event will feature two concerts headlined by Scott Stapp of Creed and The Guess Who. Other activities include a job fair and walleye fishing tournament at Lewis & Clark State Park. Parshall Schools prepare for Bond Vote Aug. 22

Parshall voters will consider a $5.4 million referendum to help pay for a new school Aug. 22.
The Parshall High School has its share of problems and it is going to take money to fix them. That was the message of School Superintendent Beth Schwarz and the architect and construction manager who presented at a public input and information in the Parshall gym recently. Ryan Motors expands to Watford City

Ryan Motors has opened its third location in western North Dakota.
Ryan Motors has opened a new location in Watford city. "We opened Ryan Auto Sales of Watford City on July 5," said Kirby Brown, sales manager. Ryan Family Dealerships also has locations in Minot and Williston. "When we looked at where our sales in Williston were coming from, it was clear that we  had buyers coming to us from the Watford City area," stated Brown. Construction ramps up on Parshall Projects

New Town News
Construction season is finally ramping up in Parshall as work gets started on the new city swimming pool, a new Boys and Girls Club and some eight-plexes that will be located near the Taco Johns. City Engineer Jason Strand reported to the City Council that work had started at the site of the pool that will be north of the Broste Rock Museum. The road from 7th Avenue to the museum has been closed but it can still be accessed from Main Street. Strand said one of the A-frames has been taken down and will be moved to make way for the pool. He asked the council to decide where to place it after the pool is finished. Read More

Indian Arts Showcase Aug. 4-5 at Fort Union

This years' Indian Arts brings presentations on traditional Crow history and culture, as well as the former 2016 Miss Indian world.  Native American music and dancing will also be part of this year's 26 th annual Indian Arts Showcase at Fort Union Trading Post National Historic Site. This special event will take place the weekend of Aug. 5-6, on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. This event is free. Read More
