WSC sets New Enrollment Record

News Release

Williston State College has broken enrollment numbers for the fourth time since Spring 2015 with 1,168 students enrolled this spring according to fourth week census totals released Tuesday, February 7, 2017.  Headcount is up 13.62% compared to Spring 2016 while credit hours (11,153.50) and Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) (743.45) saw an 11.24% increase over last year. The Williston chapter of Imagination Library is currently seeking donations due to Williston's expanding population. Hard Spring Wheat Show attracts Large Crowds

The 64th annual Hard Spring Wheat Show drew strong attendance Feb. 7-9 at the Grand Williston Hotel and Conference Center. The event gives producers answers to the some of the questions and challenges they face in the Williston area. The Wheat Show featured experts from a variety of backgrounds including weather forecasting, the durum industry, disease management and much more. There was also a bread fair for 5th graders, trade show, photo contest, awards presentation and time for networking with friends and neighbors. Williston Fire Department seeks Firefighter/EMT

The new Williston Fire Department employee will tentatively begin working April 17, 2017.
The City of Williston invites you to apply to begin your career as a firefighter/EMT. A firefighter serves as a member of a crew responding to fire calls, disaster calls, and emergency medical calls, and studying and training in the methods and techniques for firefighting, hazardous materials handling, and emergency medical care. Eight vye for Williston Public School Board Seat

Eight people have applied to fill the open school board seat for Williston Public School District 1, once held by Dr. Brett Vibeto. Joanna Baltes, Troy Bratcher, Kate Brunelle, David Jorgenson, Robert Joseph Krom, Kristen Nardozzi, Debbie Olson and Jim Purkey applied for the position and will undergo interviews from a special committee to reduce the applicant pool to three candidates. Construction continues on Ward County Jail Expansion

Construction continues on the Ward County Jail expansion. The four-story building project will add 100 double-bunked cells. Current jail capacity is 110 beds. The $38 million construction project is expected to finish in October. Once completed, the current jail will undergo a major renovation. Photos by Jill Schramm/MDN
